Services

Activation & Restorative

The activation and restorative department strives to provide high quality programs that meet the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual needs of all residents. These needs are addressed through a balance of programs offered both in a group setting and individually by well-trained activity staff, physiotherapists, restorative care aides and an on-site pastor.

Programs are offered 7 days a week and in the evenings. Some of the programs are creative exercises, church, baking, bingo, crafts, cards, etc., as well as special events. Specialized programs are also offered on a 1 to 1 basis.

We encourage community involvement in our activities. We often have choirs, nursery school children and other community groups visit the Home to entertain and interact with the residents. As well, a variety of outings are planned throughout the year for our residents’ enjoyment.

Dietary

Fairfield Park provides our residents with delicious, attractive and nutritious meals in a comfortable, supervised, full service dining room setting.   Meals are prepared on site by skilled staff with consideration given to the therapeutic needs of our residents.

A rotating menu cycle offers choice as well as seasonal variety with input from our residents and the Resident Food Committee.  Themed meals are planned in conjunction with special events and occasions.

Family and friends are welcome to join residents for meals at a minimum fee.

The nutritional requirements of our residents are assessed by our Registered Dietitian and Director of Nutritional Services who, together with our residents, families and registered team members, develop an individualized nutritional plan of care for each resident.

A pleasurable dining experience for each of our residents is an important and essential goal of this department.

Nursing & Personal Care

Our Nursing Department is designed to provide residents with assistance for a wide variety of activities of daily living in order to meet their individualized needs.  We are staffed with long-term professionally trained and educated staff consisting of 24 hour RN’s, RPN’s and Personal Support Workers.  Our motto is “Pride in Caring” which is exemplified by the kindness, compassion and caring attitude of our staff.

Residents may choose to remain with their own physicians, or request the Home’s Medical Director in the event that their physician is unable to provide services.  Attending physicians are expected to meet standards established by the Ministry of Health and must sign a contract with the Home in order to provide services. The Medical Director visits on a regular basis and is on call 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency.  All prescribed medications and diagnostic tests are arranged through the Home as ordered by the Physician.

Environmental Services

Our Environmental Department consists of Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance personnel. These staff members ensure the Home is clean and safe. Housekeeping staff clean all rooms and common areas on a routine basis.

All personal clothing is washed daily by the laundry staff and personal clothing is labelled upon admission. A mending service is also available if needed.

Maintenance staff ensures the proper functioning and safety of all equipment within the Home.
